ESPN BET is available to Louisiana bettors, joining a market where online wagering now accounts for approximately 93% of the state's total sports betting handle. Louisiana's licensing structure allows up to 20 commercial casino and racino licensees, each permitted two online skins, plus one license for the Louisiana Lottery — enabling up to 41 total mobile sportsbook brands at full capacity. ESPN BET operates as one of those skins. We tested the app across approved parishes to give you a straight read on where it fits.
Is ESPN BET legal and licensed in Louisiana?
Yes. ESPN BET holds LGCB approval to operate in Louisiana's 55 legal parishes. All operators must receive LGCB approval before accepting wagers on any new category of sporting event, so the book cannot simply add markets on its own. Geolocation technology confirms your device is inside an approved parish before any bet is placed — if you're near a parish line, that can block you. The nine no-vote parishes (Caldwell, Catahoula, Franklin, Jackson, La Salle, Sabine, Union, West Carroll, and Winn) remain off-limits. Minimum age is 21+ statewide.
How does ESPN BET compare to other Louisiana sportsbooks?
ESPN BET fits a specific bettor: someone already inside the ESPN ecosystem who values familiar branding and a clean interface. It is not the strongest choice if you prioritize bonus size or market depth. See how it stacks up against top alternatives below.
| Sportsbook | Welcome Offer | College Player Props | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| ESPN BET | Varies; check current offer | Banned per LGCB (Aug 1, 2024) | ESPN brand loyalists |
| FanDuel | Bet $5/day × 7 days = up to $350 in bonus bets | Banned per LGCB (Aug 1, 2024) | Recreational bettors, SGP volume |
| BetMGM | $1,500 First Bet Offer (code BETMGMBONUS) | Banned per LGCB (Aug 1, 2024) | High-stakes first bets |
| BetRivers | Up to $500 Second Chance Bet; 1× playthrough; 7-day expiry | Banned per LGCB (Aug 1, 2024) | Sharp bettors, low playthrough |
Note: college player props are prohibited across every licensed Louisiana sportsbook — this is a state rule, not an ESPN BET limitation. No operator can offer them legally here.
What bonuses does ESPN BET offer in Louisiana?
Welcome offers change frequently. Whatever ESPN BET is running, standard Louisiana rules apply: you must be 21+, physically located in an approved parish at sign-up and deposit, and a new user (one per household, SSN, and device). Bonus bets are non-withdrawable — only cash winnings generated from them can be withdrawn. Most bonus bets expire within seven days of crediting. Many promos impose minimum odds restrictions, typically -500 or better, so bets on heavy favorites may not qualify. Who should choose ESPN BET in Louisiana — and who shouldn't?
ESPN BET suits bettors who watch a lot of ESPN content and want their betting app to mirror that experience. It's a reasonable option for casual bettors who don't need the deepest parlay builder or the largest bonus. If you're optimizing purely for welcome offer value, FanDuel Louisiana Review: $350 Bonus Bet Offer Tested shows a competing offer with transparent terms that is hard to beat for new accounts.
